This post is more about two sites than one.

First off, there’s COLOURlovers, which is a fantastic site where you can browse thousands of inspiring prints to inform your color design needs, create your own, get feedback on your designs and interact with other designers.

There are some great tools to create your own palettes or patterns and you can even browse by different channels, such as business, craft, web, or wedding.

The second site is Spoonflower, which is an awesome on-demand fabric printer, to let you print any patterns you’ve created on high-quality fabric. Spoonflower features no minimum order size, prices ranging from $18-$32 per yard, $5 swatches, premium natural fabrics, eco-friendly textile printing and international shipping.

Projects this fine duo could be perfect for:
  • custom seat cushions
  • custom drapes
  • custom reusable gift wrap
  • custom fabric for creating little ugly-doll-type-creatures
  • custom fabric for clothes (it’s just like Project Runway!)

If you could create your own fabric, what would you use it for?
